My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed – others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to follow them exactly. I actually missed the first time and simply started over, following more carefully.

Being down to our last remote for our old garage opener, I was beginning to wonder how to get another remote. I got this just for fun, I didn’t think it would work, but it was inexpensive enough to try out.

After reading the instructions, I was now absolutely positive it would not work. You have set dip switches (open your current remote and set it to the same dip switch pattern), and press the remote button a certain number of times (in my case 17 times). So here I am, pressing the button 17 times, thinking how stupid this is, but on the 17th press, amazingly the door opened. Of course, after you do this, you only have the press the button once to get it to work, but there seems to be a delay as it runs through your programming again.

I have two Garage Door Openers in my house, a new Chamberlain Belt Drive we bought a few months ago, and an old LiftMaster Chain Drive that was here when the house was built. We primarily use the Garage Door with the new opener, but have had to have two remotes in each car for those times when I want to open the other garage door. What a pain! We bought this remote to solve the problem, and it did!

The remote was pretty easy to program for both openers. Now both my wife and I only have to carry this “Clicker,” instead of the two different remotes on the visor. Great & simple product!

This product was extremely easy to program (took about 5 mins, including reading the instructions), push a few buttons, push one on the opener, and BINGO, it’s done! It has been great not needing the car keys to get into the garage from outside.

I can’t speak to the longevity of this product, as I just got it about 1 month ago. It appears, however, that the new model only functions for a few seconds after you enter the code, which eliminates the concerns of reviewers of the old model had, that someone could come up right after they walk away and hit a button to open the door.

Final note, it is really more of an off-white/cream color. Luckily, that is what I really wanted.
